“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” Mother Teresa
I wonder why we guard ourselves against experiencing closeness with those we don’t know. We live in a small community and yet, going to the grocery store, no one smiles at each other. We’ve become so isolated. And yet we have forgetten one small detail. We are just atoms floating around and actually atoms that are interacting with each other all the time. And so the premise that there is an “other” is false.
In this wonderful clip (click here) Fr Gregory Boyle discusses kinship. He states, “That we be one, is our own deepest longing for ourselves.”
