My position as an acupuncturist in Trail, BC, began over twenty years ago. Prior to this, I was a painter , dancer and poet. I was naturally drawn to the creative aspect of treatment that considered the uniqueness of each person.
Studying at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, which was one of the first schools to offer a doctoral program in acupuncture, my education was very strong. Even in the initial stages of my profession, I felt confident to tackle challenging and chronic conditions.
While I was in school I was inspired by three clinicians. The first was one of the founders of the Naturopathic College in Portland. Although an amazing practitioner, it was her kindness and compassion that I learned the most from. I learned one-needle protocol from a visiting professor, exposing me to the simplicity that can be employed with acupuncture. I also studied under the founder of NADA, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. Many of his patients were addicts and faced a shortened life. His compassion in working with early deaths left an enduring imprint on my heart.
Acupuncture is effective in the treatment of emotions, such as depression, anxiety and stress. Often this is an area that is not addressed by other health professions when treating disease. However, in Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture, a person’s disposition is part of the symptom picture. Through a series of treatments, as the health concern improves, the temperament of the person also shows positive changes.
Within this blog/website I will share lots of inspirational and personal stories and and successful treatment cases. There will also be plenty of information about acupuncture.
